Raspberry Pi is a British brand founded in 2012. The company produces single-board computers, computing modules and accessories. The range includes Raspberry Pi 5, 4, Zero 2 W models. Official cameras, displays and sensors are also produced. The products are widely used in education, automation and robotics.
- Quad-core Cortex-A76 processor with a frequency of 2.4 GHz.
- 16 GB LPDDR4 RAM with ECC error correction.
- Two HDMI 2.0 ports for 4Kp60 output to two monitors.
- Two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 for peripherals.
- Extended temperature range from -20 to +85°C.
How the CM5 Compute Module works
The module is inserted into a connector on the carrier board. The board provides power and outputs interfaces. The BCM2712 processor runs the operating system with eMMC. The VideoCore VII video core renders graphics. ECC memory corrects errors for critical applications. You get a full-fledged Raspberry Pi 5 in a compact format.
Technical characteristics and functionality
The CM5 model is based on the Broadcom BCM2712 processor. Four ARM Cortex-A76 cores operate at 2.4 GHz. The VideoCore VII GPU supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2. The amount of RAM LPDDR4-4267 is 16 GB. The memory has error correction control (ECC). Built-in eMMC is available in 0, 16, 32, 64 GB options.
Optionally there is Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.0. Wired Gigabit Ethernet network with IEEE 1588 support. Two USB 3.0 (5 Gbps) and one USB 2.0 ports. Two HDMI 2.0 outputs with 4K resolution at 60 fps. Two MIPI ports (4 lanes) for cameras or displays. One PCIe 2.0 x1 lane (5 Gbps).
Additional parameters
Up to 30 GPIO pins with levels of 1.8 or 3.3 V. Interfaces: 5×UART, 5×I2C, 5×SPI, SDIO, DPI, I2S, 4×PWM, 3×GPCLK. Module dimensions 55×40×4.7 mm. Four M2.5 mounting holes. Power supply 5 VDC, USB PD support up to 5 A. Operating temperature -20 to +85°C.
The module is ideal for embedded drone control systems. Used in industrial computers and medical equipment. ECC memory is critical for long-term trouble-free operation. Extended temperature range suitable for field conditions.
