How does this precision surveying instrument work?

The principle of operation of the Leica TS11 tacheometer is based on the simultaneous measurement of the angles of rotation of the telescope and the distance to the object. The high-precision angle system with two-axis compensator automatically corrects tilt errors. The laser rangefinder with PinPoint technology uses a narrow beam visible to the naked eye to accurately target building corners and other hard-to-reach spots up to 1,000 meters away.

When using a standard prism, the range increases to 3500 meters, and in long distance mode - up to 10,000 meters. Measurement results are displayed on a bright 3.5-inch VGA touch screen. A special electronic pen allows you to create digital sketches and take notes directly on the device screen, which replaces a paper outline.
