Operating principle and key features
The Holybro Microhard P840 module is a transceiver operating in the licensed range 840‑845 MHz. It uses frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology, which provides high immunity to interference. Fixed frequency operation is also supported. Modulations: GMSK, 2GFSK, 4GFSK and QPSK.
The data transmission speed over the radio channel reaches 345 kbit/s. The serial port speed is configurable from 300 baud to 230 kbps. Error detection is performed by a 32-bit CRC and an automatic retransmission request (ARQ) mechanism. The device can operate in point-to-point (P2P), point-to-multipoint, store-and-forward repeater, and peer-to-peer (Mesh) modes. Power supply 7-35 VDC.
Current consumption: in sleep mode <1 mA, standby 20 mA, when receiving 45‑98 mA, when transmitting (peak) up to 2 A. The module is equipped with USB Type-C with a built-in USB-UART converter for configuration via a computer. It is connected to the flight controller via a 6-pin JST-GH connector (TELEM port).
LEDs indicate UART transmission and RSSI signal strength. Configuration is performed using AT commands or through the PicoConfig utility. The weight of the module without antenna is 44 g, with antenna (gain 5 dBi) - 71 g. The built-in high-voltage BEC allows the module to be powered directly from the drone battery (up to 6S).
The Holybro Microhard P840 module is ideal for long-range drones, telemetry systems, ground stations, swarm missions and industrial automation. Thanks to its high power and noise immunity, it is indispensable in urban areas and over long distances.
