The FDROBOT CS30 depth sensor based on VCSEL technology measures the distance to objects within a radius of 10 centimeters to 5 meters with centimeter accuracy. The device transmits data via a high-speed USB Type-C interface and is compatible with Windows, Ubuntu and ROS. Operating principle and technical capabilities
The CS30 depth sensor uses time-of-flight (ToF) technology based on vertically emitting lasers (VCSELs). Infrared pulses with a wavelength of 940 nm are reflected from objects and returned to the sensor. The built-in processor calculates the distance based on the signal return time.
The device generates a depth map with a resolution of up to 640×480 pixels and simultaneously transmits a color image with a resolution of up to 1920×1080 pixels. The measurement accuracy is ±2.5 cm at a distance of up to 0.5 m and 1% of the distance at longer distances. Viewing angles reach 100 degrees horizontally and 75 degrees vertically, depending on the mode.
The CS30 sensor is ideal for drones, mobile robots and machine vision applications. It is effectively used for 3D mapping, navigation and object recognition. Thanks to ROS support, integration into complex systems does not require significant effort.
