How does an electric starter work?

The starter is connected to a powerful 22 V battery (6S LiPo). When current is applied, the rotor develops enormous torque. The starter shaft rotates the crankshaft of a gasoline engine. After a few revolutions, the internal combustion engine starts and runs independently. You disconnect the starter and remove it.
