Optical module HolyBro PX4FLOW V1.3.1 + sonar MB1043 for Pixhawk
PX4flow is an optical flow sensor for the Pixhawk flight controller. It has a resolution of 752*480 pixels and processes optical flow at a frequency of 250 Hz (outdoors in good lighting), providing high photosensitivity. Works indoors even in low light conditions. Can be used to solve computer vision problems.

Operating principle and functionality
Module HolyBro PX4FLOW works on the principle of optical flow. Its high-speed camera records the surface underneath the drone. The built-in processor analyzes the sequence of images. It calculates the displacement of the ground texture between frames. This allows you to determine the speed and direction of the drone relative to the ground.
Sonar MB1043 complements the system with height measurement. It emits ultrasonic pulses and detects their reflection from the surface. By measuring the signal's travel time, the processor calculates the exact distance to the ground. Data from the optical sensor and sonar are combined in the autopilot. This allows the drone to hover stable and move accurately indoors.
Specifications and Applications
The module has key technical parameters. The optical sensor has a resolution and frequency sufficient to accurately calculate flow. The MB1043 ultrasonic rangefinder measures distances ranging from a few centimeters to 5 meters. The device connects to the autopilot via a special I2C connector. Power is supplied from the on-board 5V network.
This kit is indispensable for flying in difficult conditions. It allows the drone to carry out autonomous missions indoors - in warehouses, workshops. The system provides ultra-precise hovering and landing without drifting. This is critical for aerial surveys and building inspections. The module is also used in scientific and research projects.
Configuration is done through the QGroundControl environment. You need to enable the appropriate optical flow driver in the PX4 firmware. Proper installation of the module on the drone frame is very important. The optical sensor must be pointed straight down and have no interference in the field of view. The sonar should not be covered by wires or other parts.
