Operating principle and design
The RunCam Hybrid 2 camera is a unique hybrid solution for FPV drones. Two independent optical modules are located on one compact board. The first module with an M10 lens and a SONY 8 MP matrix is responsible for digital video recording in 4K format.
The second module with an M8 lens and a SONY 1.3 MP sensor provides low-latency analog video transmission for piloting. This allows you to simultaneously obtain high-quality footage for editing and a clear picture for controlling the drone in real time.
A single-layer board measuring 29x29 mm with a 20x20 mm mounting pattern easily integrates into most modern frames. The minimum gap between the lenses helps to more accurately determine the shooting angle. The analog signal delay is about 6 ms. This is quite enough for confident piloting. HD recording supports remote control via UART. This will allow you to easily start and stop recording using the toggle switch on the remote control. Parameters are configured through the RunCam application on a smartphone by scanning a QR code.
Specifications and Compatibility
Explore the detailed parameters of the RunCam Hybrid 2 camera. The SONY 8 MP HD sensor provides video recording in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. 2.7K@60fps and 1080P@120fps slow motion modes are also available.
The SONY 1.3 MP analog matrix has a field of view of 150 degrees in 4:3 format. Videos are saved in MP4 format to a micro SD card up to 128GB. For 2.7K60 and 1080P120 modes, a U3 class memory card or higher is recommended. The file system must be FAT32.
Interfaces include UART for remote control of HD recording and updating the FPV module firmware. Power is supplied by direct current from 5 to 20 Volts. Important! Do not connect the camera directly to a 4S or higher battery without a stabilizer. Since power surges can burn the device. The operating current is 480 mA at 5 V and 140 mA at 12 V. Overall dimensions of the board are 29x29 mm, the lens module is 19x25 mm. The camera weighs only 18 grams.
Applications and installation
The RunCam Hybrid 2 is ideal for freestyle flying and capturing quality content. It allows the pilot to simultaneously see a clear picture for control. And also record video in high definition without the need to install two separate cameras.
When installing, make sure that the camera is securely fastened, and use a power stabilizer when working with high-voltage batteries. Adjustable shutter speed and ISO settings via QR code allow you to quickly adapt the camera to any lighting conditions. The camera is compatible with most flight controllers thanks to a standard 20x20mm mount.
