Obstacle avoidance radar is a key component of a quadcopter's autonomous control system. It ensures safe and efficient movement in the environment. The essence of its work is to detect objects in the path of the quadcopter and prevent collisions with them.
An obstacle avoidance radar device consists of several main components.
-
Antenna. This is an active radar element that emits radio signals and receives reflected signals from surrounding objects.
-
Transceiver. It is responsible for transmitting and receiving radio signals between the antenna and the central processor.
-
Central Processing Unit. This component analyzes the data received from the transceiver and determines the distance to obstacles, their size and speed.
-
Signal processing and navigation algorithms. They process data from the central processor and determine the optimal route to avoid collisions.
The operating principle of obstacle avoidance radar is based on the use of radio waves. The antenna emits radio signals in the direction the quadcopter is moving. When signals encounter obstacles, they are reflected back to the radar. By measuring the delay time between sending a signal and receiving its reflected version, the central processor determines the distance to the obstacle.
In addition to determining the distance to obstacles, obstacle avoidance radar can also determine their size and speed. This information allows the quadcopter to make quick and accurate decisions on how to avoid a collision.
Technical Parameters
- Two-dimensional laser.
- Viewing angle: 540°, front, back, left, right, up.
- Maximum detection distance: 20 m.
- Maximum obstacle avoidance speed: 10 m/s.
In modern quadcopter control systems, obstacle avoidance radar is often combined with other sensors such as cameras and lidars to improve the accuracy and reliability of obstacle detection. Such systems provide a high level of safety and efficiency when moving quadcopters autonomously in various environmental conditions.
