How this smart sensor works and its key features
The operating principle of the HESAI QT128 lidar is based on measuring the time of flight of a laser pulse. 128 laser channels, rotating 360 degrees, generate up to 1.15 million dots per second. This data stream forms a highly accurate three-dimensional cloud that allows the robot or drone to “see” everything around it.
A wide 105.2 degree vertical field of view ensures that no object, be it a low obstacle or a tall shelving, goes unnoticed. The device can operate in single or double return mode, which increases point density in difficult conditions. The lidar meets the stringent ISO 26262 ASIL B functional safety standards and the AEC-Q100 automotive reliability standard.
Range, angle and reflectivity information is transmitted over a high-speed automotive Ethernet interface (1000BASE-T1). The compact housing, with a height of only 83 mm and a weight of 700 g, easily integrates into any system.
