The essence of the operation of a commutator motor
The operating principle is based on the interaction of electromagnets. Electric current from the battery is supplied to the brush assembly. Using a collector, it is supplied to the windings of the rotating rotor. The rotor becomes an electromagnet and is repelled by the permanent magnets of the stator. This causes the shaft to rotate and transmit torque. The rotation speed directly depends on the applied voltage.
Technical characteristics and areas of use
The Freerchobby MP202/80 engine is a standard size for its class. Its case diameter is 20 mm and length is 28 mm. The operating voltage is 7.2-8.4 Volts. This corresponds to standard 2S LiPo or 6-7 NiMH batteries. The maximum power reaches 80 watts.
It is compatible with small propellers for slow and medium flights. Ideal for light trainers and gliders. It can also be used on simple frame quadcopters. To control the speed, you will need a simple commutated cruise control (ESC). Or you can connect it directly through a reducer.
This is an excellent training engine for your first steps in aeromodelling. It helps to understand the basic mechanics and electricals of flight. The motor is also suitable for various non-flying models and devices. Installation is easy with standard mounting holes. It is important to ensure good cooling by the flow of incoming air.
Requires periodic maintenance of the brush assembly. Check graphite brushes and commutator wear regularly. Clean carbon deposits from the manifold to maintain contact. Lubricate the shaft bearings with special oil. Proper care significantly extends the life of this motor.
