Operating principle and technical capabilities

The TOF-50M lidar measures distance using the pulsed time-of-flight method. The laser diode generates a short light pulse with a wavelength of 905 nm. The time it takes for the reflected signal to return to the sensor is converted into an exact distance. A narrow field of view of 1-2 degrees allows you to focus on a specific point. The accuracy of the classic range is ±3 centimeters. High frequency of 100 Hz makes it possible to track fast moving objects. The device is resistant to bright sunlight up to 100,000 lux.

Technical characteristics and areas of application

The rangefinder is powered by 4.3–5.2 VDC. Power consumption is only 250 mW, which is critical for battery systems. UART, I²C and IO interfaces provide flexible connectivity to popular platforms including Arduino and STM32. The default I²C slave address is set to 0x80. The operating temperature range from -10 to +60°C allows the sensor to be used in various conditions. Dimensions 22.7 x 28.0 x 13.6 mm and weight 7.5 grams make installation easy.
