Sign in to order →PMD-1V1TTL-FC-20Km optical transceiver module for drone is a high-tech solution for secure communications. It uses a laser beam instead of radio waves to transmit data. This ensures the highest level of safety and immunity to radio interference. You will be able to transmit telemetry and commands over a distance of up to 20 kilometers. It is an ideal conduit for critical commercial and research missions.
This device operates on the principle of an optical communication line. It converts electrical signals into modulated light pulses. The laser beam forms a narrowly directed information transmission channel. Operation requires line of sight between the transmitter on the ground and the receiver on the drone. This provides extreme protection against interception and external influences.
Communication range up to 20 km subject to direct visibility.
Complete immunity to radio frequency interference and ECM.
High level of security due to the narrow beam focus.
High data transfer speed for telemetry and commands.
Compact dimensions and light weight, suitable for integration onto a drone.
The system consists of two paired devices - a ground station and an on-board module. The ground transmitter modulates the laser beam with digital data (commands). This beam is precisely directed to a photodetector mounted on the drone. An onboard receiver converts the light pulses back into electrical signals. The data is sent to the flight controller. The return channel works similarly for transmitting telemetry from the drone to the ground.
The key difference from radio is the narrow beam focus. This is both an advantage and a requirement. The beam must be accurately aimed and held at the receiver. Modern systems use automatic tracking and pointing correction. This ensures a stable channel even when the drone is maneuvering.
The module has specific and impressive parameters. The maximum communication range is stated to be up to 20,000 meters. Serial interface baud rate TTL. The laser wavelength is usually 1550 nm (safe infrared range). The beam divergence angle is very small, which ensures the range. Powered by DC power supply, power consumption is low.
The functionality of the system is focused on the reliable transmission of digital streams. It can transmit data from MAVLink, UART or other protocols. Used to control the drone and receive real-time telemetry. Can serve as a backup or primary communication channel. Especially in demand in conditions where radio frequencies are prohibited or overloaded.
This device is in demand in specific and critical areas. When conducting military or government exercises with drones. For inspection of critical infrastructure (nuclear power plants, government facilities). In scientific research, where data purity without interference is important. For commercial shooting in areas with dense RF traffic.
Installation and configuration require a professional approach. Precise alignment of the optical axes of the transmitter and receiver is necessary. It is important to ensure that the optics are firmly mounted on the drone without vibration. The ground station is often equipped with a servo drive on a tripod. The communication software interface is configured through the configurator.
The system is compatible with industrial autopilots. Such as Pixhawk, CubePilot and others that support external communication modules. Integration occurs via a standard serial port. This allows it to be used as part of complex unmanned systems. Reliability is confirmed by operation in difficult weather conditions.
