Operating principle and computing capabilities
Radxa ROCK 4D is a complete single board computer measuring just 87x58mm. It easily integrates into any systems. The Rockchip RK3576 processor with big.LITTLE architecture dynamically distributes the load between powerful and energy-efficient cores. It delivers peak performance when you need it and energy savings when you're not working. The built-in NPU with a performance of 6 TOPS supports INT4/INT8/INT16/BF16/TF32 formats, allowing you to perform neural network inference locally without going to the cloud.
The Arm Mali-G52 MC3 graphics subsystem supports modern APIs, including OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 and Vulkan 1.2. It provides excellent interface handling and rendering. The hardware video decoder is capable of processing 8K@30fps video in H.265, VP9, AV1 formats, and the encoder is capable of processing up to 4K@60fps. This makes the board ideal for multimedia systems, digital kiosks and professional video capture.
Technical characteristics and interfaces
Explore the rich connectivity options of the Radxa ROCK 4D. LPDDR5 memory is available in 8GB version. For storage, there is a microSD slot, a connector for eMMC 5.1 or UFS 2.0 modules (only one is used at a time). It is also possible to connect an NVMe SSD via an optional PCIe HAT.
Video outputs include HDMI 2.1 supporting up to 4K@120fps and 4-lane MIPI DSI for connecting a second display . The cameras are provided with one 4-line and one 2-line MIPI CSI interface. Network capabilities are represented by a Gigabit Ethernet port with a PoE option, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 modules with two antenna connectors.
The USB kit includes two USB 3.0 Type-A ports (one with OTG support) and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports. A 40-pin Raspberry Pi compatible GPIO header is available for expansion. The board supports UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, CAN and other interfaces. Power is provided via USB Type-C (5V) or via GPIO.
Areas of application and operation
Radxa ROCK 4D is available in commercial (0...+70°C) and industrial (-40...+85°C) versions. This expands its application from home laboratories to outdoor equipment and transportation systems. The board will be an excellent basis for a powerful robot controller or personal cloud server. There are also environmental monitoring or high-performance media player systems.
