How the TG50 lidar works

This device uses Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology. The laser emits short pulses of light. The sensor measures the time of their return from objects. This calculates the exact distance to each point. The mechanism rotates 360° around its axis. The processor builds a detailed 2D map of the environment. Data is transmitted via the UART interface.

The specific functionality of this model is designed for field tasks. Class 1 laser is absolutely safe for the eyes. Scanning frequency adjustable from 5 to 12 Hz. Angular resolution reaches 0.09° at low speeds. The operating supply voltage is 4.8–5.2 V. The starting current does not exceed 1000 milliamps. Sensor dimensions are 75.8×34.7 mm.
