Operating principle and purpose of the device
The BIT-CAN-50/200 measuring unit performs the function of an on-board telemetry sensor. It is connected between the battery and the power load. The device measures the voltage drop across an external shunt. From this drop the current flow is calculated. At the same time, the current battery voltage is measured. The received data is digitized and processed by a microcontroller.
The information is transmitted via the CAN bus to the flight controller. The standard DroneCAN (formerly UAVCAN) protocol is used. This allows the sensor to be easily integrated into any modern system. The flight controller receives accurate consumption data. Based on them, the remaining capacity and flight time are calculated.
Technical characteristics and functionality
Study the exact parameters of the BIT-CAN-50/200 measuring unit. The battery voltage measurement input operates from 0 to 85 Volts. The current measurement range is from 0 to 204.8 Amps. Direct current through external shunt up to 150 Amps. Short-term current allowable up to 204.8 Amps.
Voltage measurement accuracy reaches ±0.1 percent. Current measurement accuracy is ±2 percent. For communication, a CAN interface with the DroneCAN protocol is used. There is a backup UART2 for downloading firmware in DFU mode. An ST debug interface is provided with SWCLK and SWDIO pins.
The supply voltage of the board itself is 4.5-5.5 Volts. Current consumption is only 10-25 milliamps. Operating temperature from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius. The board size is 30 by 22 millimeters, 3 mm thick. The weight of the device does not exceed 4.3 grams.
Display and equipment
There are LED status indicators on the board. The blue LED flashes quickly to indicate loading. Slow flashing blue indicates normal operating mode. The red LED indicates the presence of 3.3 Volt power.
The delivery set includes the measuring unit board itself. Also included is a 20 cm long connecting cable. The cable has JST-GH-4P connectors on both sides. This is enough to connect to the flight controller. The shunt is purchased separately depending on the required current.
