Low power consumption and stable operation over a wide range of supply voltages.
Operating principle and measurement accuracy
The NRA24 altimeter radar is a type of FMCW radar (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) operating in the K-band frequency range. The principle of its operation is based on the emission of a continuous frequency-modulated signal and the analysis of the echo reflected from the surface. Based on the frequency difference between the sent and received signal, the distance to the object is calculated. This technology allows you to obtain accurate altitude data regardless of light, smoke or weather conditions where laser or ultrasonic rangefinders can fail.
The built-in digital signal processor processes data in real time, providing a high refresh rate of up to 100 Hz. This is critical for dynamic applications such as automatically landing drones or stabilizing flight over uneven terrain. Customizable filtering parameters allow you to adapt the operation of the device to specific operating conditions, cutting off noise and interference.
Technical characteristics and connection
| Characteristics | Meaning |

Connection to a flight controller or on-board computer is made via standard UART or CAN interfaces, allowing easy integration into most modern control systems. Built-in algorithms provide ready-to-use elevation data without complex post-processing. To configure parameters, you can use specialized software from the manufacturer, available for download.
Applications for drones
The FDROBOT NRA24 radar altimeter is indispensable for performing precise automatic landing of unmanned aerial vehicles in conditions of limited visibility, for example, at dusk or when working in quarries with abundant dust. It is ideal for agrodrones that spray fields while maintaining a specified height above the vegetation surface.
The device is also used in robotics for positioning moving platforms and in systems for monitoring water levels and bulk materials. The high frequency of data updating allows it to be used in stabilization systems and flight over complex terrain.
