It is a national high-tech enterprise, which is called the "little giant" among smart sensor manufacturers. YDLIDAR's portfolio includes sensors based on triangulation and Time-of-Flight (ToF) technologies.
Products cover many areas: from robotic vacuum cleaners and service robots to multimedia interaction and industrial automation. Key developments include the world's first mass-produced underwater 2D lidars of the TW3 series with a green laser, 2D scanners TG30 (range up to 30 m) and TG50 (range up to 50 m), as well as compact ToF lidars T-mini Pro for navigation of drones and robots.
- Compact size 21x15x7.87 mm and weight only 1.35 g.
- Detection range from 0.2 to 18 meters.
- Selectable high sampling rate: 50, 100 or 250 Hz.
- Full protection against external interference up to 100,000 lux.
- Supports ROS1, ROS2, UART and I²C protocols.
How does YDLIDAR SDM18 lidar work?
The device measures distances using the Time-of-Flight (ToF) principle. The laser emits short pulses of light. The sensor detects the return time of the reflected signal. Electronics calculates the exact distance to the object. The module outputs ready data via the serial port. This allows lidar to be used for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The specific functionality of the device is designed for real field tasks. Model SDM18 is perfect for altitude control on multi-rotors. And also for precise positioning of robots and obstacle avoidance systems. The laser module is classified as safe class 1 (FDA certified).
The technical characteristics of the lidar are accurate and stable. Current consumption is 140–150 mA with a 3.3 V supply. UART interface operates at speeds up to 921,600 baud. The operating temperature range is from -20 to +50℃. The case dimensions are 21×15×7.87 mm, and the weight is 1.35 grams. The module is compatible with Arduino, STM32 and Raspberry Pi platforms.
