The quality of the built-in DVR in FatShark glasses leaves much to be desired. PowerPlay solves this problem by offering professional H.264 recording at up to 60fps and high bitrates. How does the PowerPlay DVR module work?

PowerPlay connects to your FPV goggles via the included Y-cable. It takes an analog video signal (CVBS) and converts it to high bitrate H.264 digital format. The built-in processor provides recording at up to 60 frames per second, which is double the standard 30 fps. Two 18500 cells power the module and glasses, and a USB-C port allows you to quickly charge the batteries. You get a stand-alone device for high-quality recording, independent of the built-in DVR glasses.

Technical characteristics and functionality

The PowerPlay module records video in 720×576 (PAL) or 720×480 (NTSC) resolution. Bitrate reaches 15 Mbit/s for PAL and 8 Mbit/s for NTSC. Built-in 6cm TFT screen for playback and status monitoring. Power is supplied from two replaceable 18500 cells (not included).

The recommended capacity is 1400–2040 mAh, which provides up to 3 hours of operation with FatShark HDO goggles and the rapidFIRE module. Charging is performed via the USB-C port with a current of up to 1.5 A. The package includes two Y-cables (short for head mounting and long for pocket), headband mount and top strap.
