Operating principle and design features

The Baofeng UV-XR radio operates in two popular bands, VHF (136-174 MHz) and UHF (400-520 MHz), providing flexibility in frequency selection. The device is built on a reliable element base and is distinguished by well-thought-out ergonomics. The volume control is protected by special plastic beads from accidental rotation, and the control buttons, including PTT, have a clear tactile response. To quickly switch power, a combination with the hash button is available, and channel scanning is launched by holding the star button.

The design of the radio station is oriented to work in difficult conditions. The thickened body made of rough, durable plastic fits securely in the hand and does not slip. All connectors are protected from moisture, however, please note that this model uses a non-standard headset connector (compatible with Motorola accessories), and standard Kenwood headsets will not work. When using third-party antennas, such as the popular Nagoya 771, the antenna connector may require minor modifications due to plastic buildup around the socket.
