Operating principle and key features of the family
VEYE-MIPI CSI-2 modules are designed to connect to single board computers and embedded systems via the MIPI CSI-2 (Camera Serial Interface 2) interface. They transmit uncompressed video in UYVY format (YUV422-8bit) over two data lines with a bandwidth of 1.188 Gbps. Camera settings such as exposure, white balance and gain are controlled via the I2C bus.
Depending on the installed sensor, the modules can solve various problems. Models based on SONY STARVIS (IMX290, IMX327, IMX462) have exceptional sensitivity (SNR1s up to 0.18 lx) and are designed for shooting in low light conditions. They support DOL-WDR, 2D/3D noise reduction and Defog for clear images in foggy or backlit situations.
Global shutter modules (such as those on the SC132GS sensor) are designed for machine vision and industrial inspection . They allow you to take clear pictures of fast moving objects without distortion, and support hardware and software triggers for synchronizing shooting.

All modules have a standard connector for interchangeable M12 or CS lenses, as well as interfaces for connecting an IR-CUT filter and an external day/night trigger. The power supply is 3.3V DC and the power consumption is about 1.2W. Some models support automatic switching between 5V and 3.3V power supply. The operating temperature range for most modules is -10°C to +50°C or +60°C .
