How RTK Works
RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) GNSS uses carrier-phase measurements from a base station at a known location to correct rover position errors in real-time, achieving 1-2 cm horizontal accuracy vs. 1-3 meters with standard GPS. Corrections are sent via UHF radio (433/915MHz) or NTRIP over cellular/internet.

Base Station vs NTRIP Network
A physical base station (DJI D-RTK 2, EMLID Reach RS2+) requires setup on a known point but works anywhere with no subscription. NTRIP networks (continuously operating reference stations) provide corrections via cellular — no base station needed but require subscription and cellular coverage.
PPK: The Backup and Alternative
PPK records raw GNSS observations during flight and processes them against base station data afterward. It is more reliable than RTK (no radio dropouts) and achieves the same accuracy. Professional mapping operations use PPK as primary or backup to RTK.
Multi-Constellation Reception
